There's a lot of talk about climate change, yet not a lot of walk by governments, countries, companies, and individuals!
Some things are being done, they're not large enough to address our global climate crisis . . . and they don't bring us all together to put some serious brakes on it.
Some things are too difficult for some to do, and forcing them won't work. How do you get them to take an easy step which benefits them and the planet?
This nagged at Leslie for two years, until one day, Planet Cents was born in a moment of divine inspiration.
Leslie's "Eureka!" Moment
Leslie did not start with "let's start a sustainable marketplace!" (Hardly, as she is not a big consumer and loves thrift shops!) She began with: How do we get as many people and organizations to come together to reverse climate change?
The answer: shopping is something that almost everyone does. If we just ask people to shop sustainably, it's not too much to get a habitable planet for current and future generations. Best deal ever!
According to the Kauffman Foundation, startups led by women achieve a 35% higher return on investment.
Also, businesses founded by women and VC backed deliver more than 2 times as much per dollar invested than
those founded by men. Plus, diversity in management correlates with greater innovation. (Source: Forbes)
If this is true, do you find it outrageous that women founders get only 2% of investor funds?! (Source: Fortune)
